HERSTORY
She said, "Let there be female heros and anti-heros," and there were.

Since 1995 the company has had more than 500 performances- 200 of which have toured locally and in North America. We have performed in five Canadian provinces and four American states. Our first original play, Sonofabitch stew: The Drunken Life of Calamity Jane, is now in its eleventh year and continues to tour. Our next creation, Bedtime Stories for AMAZONS, received two Jessie Richardson award nominations. In '98 the original play Bonnie Dangerously; fast times with that guy Clyde, earned two more Jessie nominations for the company. In '99 we premiered Susan Miller's play My Left Breast in Vancouver, receiving the Vancouver Sun People's Choice Award. Woman Idiot Lunatic Criminal was our first production as part of See Seven. Adding to our current touring repertoire, it was re-imagined by internationally acclaimed writer Terri Tatchell to suit a highschool audience, premiered at the Norman Rothstein Theatre in January 2007 and subsequently toured BC in Jan/Feb 2008, October 2008 and will head to Saskatchewan in October 2009. There is a great future ahead for this exploration into the significance of the suffrage movement.

Our production of Marion Bridge by Daniel MacIvor has toured three times in BC and Alberta since we mounted it's Vancouver premiere in 2003. shameless hussy introduced Vancouver audiences to Moira Buffini, an award winning British playwright with our Canadian premieres of both Loveplay and Silence. We revved up Summer of My Amazing Luck by Chris Craddock in August 2006 to critical acclaim and we aren’t stopping there. Adapted from the novel by Miriam Toews, this roller coaster ride through the welfare system went on to tour throughout 2007 & 2008.

Now what?

In 2009 our acclaimed production of Summer of My Amazing Luck has completed it's 3rd tour. Next up on our travelling schedule, watch out Ontario- we're bringing the play out East in February 2010! Back at home in September 2009 we will introduce yet another Vancouver Premiere, Byrony Lavery's FROZEN - which will then be available for touring in 2010/11
