ON TOUR April 2008
Miriam Toews'
SUMMER OF MY AMAZING LUCK
By Chris Craddock
Governor General award winning author, Miriam Toews, burst onto the literary scene with this, her debut novel, and award winning playwright Chris Craddock took a five year “road trip" to bring the adaptation to the stage. Edmonton was so impressed it gave him a 2005 Sterling Award for "Outstanding New Play".
In this hysterically funny new play two young mothers are out to shatter stereotypes - or should they really give a rat's ass? Lucy and Lish are simple women at the mercy of a large, complex and often heartless social safety net and they are hitting the road in a beat up van full of kids and toys.
Renée Iaci (currently replaced by Diana Swayze) Thomas Conlin Jones & Daune Campbell will whirl you into "life" at Have-A-Life government housing project, and you'll see why getting out of town seemed like a good idea at the time.
Stephane Kirkland joins the hussy diehards to direct this “absolutely radical breath of theatrical fresh air.” Gilbert Bouchard, SEE Magazine.
Lana Krause & Stephen Bulat design their way into the rich lives of these women.

The Canadian Premiere of SILENCE by Moira Buffini at Performance Works on Granville Island, Jan 26th to Feb 5th, 2005 Tickets:604.257.0366
In 2005 shameless hussy produced the Canadian premiere of Moira Buffini’s award winning play Silence. This is a typical end-of-the-millennium story involving cross-dressing, hallucinogenic drugs, confused sexuality, alternative religions and apocalyptic dreams.
Playwright, actress and director Moira Buffini was commissioned to write Silence by Britain’s National Theatre where it premiered to popular and critical acclaim. Based on historical events, Silence received the ‘99 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for “the best play in the English speaking theatre written by a woman.” Buffini is a two-time recipient of the Blackburn Prize, for Silence as well as for her play Doomsday Girl. In 2004 shameless hussy produced the Canadian premiere of another Buffini hit, Loveplay.
Silence is a comic drama based on true events. The story manages to be at once comic, dramatic, historical and acerbically political. It intertwines the tenth-century Saxon/Viking conflict with a love triangle involving both voluntary and inadvertent gender bending.
“Silence is, not to mince words, a beaut.” Ian Shuttleworth – The Times
“a complete send-up of Medieval England in the style of Monty Python” Artemis Furie – Show Business, Inc
Directed by Jessie Richardson Award winning director Michael Schaldemose Silence featured sizzling performances by Ian Butcher, Daune Campbell, Renée Iaci, Anthony F. Ingram, Malcolm Scott and Deb Pickman. Sound designer Stephan Bulat joins set designer Lance Cardinal of Cardinal Productions and Design, lighting designer Adrian Muir, and costume designer Lana Krause.
